How to Play
Welcome to Fresh Mart. You work nights. The shelves are stocked, the floors are sticky, and the town’s most wanted are on the loose. Grab a mop.

The idea
Clean Up On Aisle Scream! is a funny-spooky, first-person game about surviving one week of night shifts at a grocery store. Do your chores, keep the manager happy, and don’t get fired. Oh, and some very suspicious people keep showing up after dark. Pet the animals. Trust us.
It’s spooky, never gory. Made for ages 11 and up, and fine for the whole family. Play solo, or team up with friends over the internet.
A night at Fresh Mart
- Clock in and check the clipboard to see tonight’s chores: mop the spills, restock the shelves, close out the registers, and more.
- Keep an eye on the clock. Finish the chores and clock out early. Mess up and you earn a strike. Three strikes and you’re fired, and the manager will have some thoughts about it.
- Climb the ranks. Do well and you get promoted, and bigger jobs bring bigger chores.
- Expect company. Late-night shoppers make messes. Lost drivers honk for directions. And as the week goes on, stranger visitors turn up. Hide, sneak, and throw things. We’ll say no more.
- Make it to the end of the week. What happens then? You’ll have to see.
First time? Pick Training Night from the menu. It’s the gentle warm-up: it shows you the ropes before the real shifts begin.

Phone and tablet
Turn your device sideways. Use your left thumb on the joystick to walk (a gentle push sneaks), drag on the right side of the screen to look around, and tap the USE, THROW and item buttons. Settings has a Touch controls switch if the buttons don’t show up when you want them (or show up when you don’t).
Where to play
- In your browser. Open cleanuponaislescream.com on a computer, phone or tablet. We test on Chrome and Safari. No download, no account, no sign-up.
- On your home screen. On an iPad or iPhone, open the game in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. It gets its own icon, goes full screen, and solo nights work with no Wi-Fi.
- As a file. The main menu can save the whole game as one file you can copy to any computer and double-click. Solo play, no internet needed.
- On itch.io. The game is on itch.io too, and it’s the same game with the same leaderboards.
Solo play always works offline once the game has loaded. The leaderboards and co-op need the internet.
More than one way to scream
Pick your difficulty
From Easy for a relaxed shift to Hardcore and Survival for people who enjoy suffering. A shift happens either way.
Zombie Mode
A mop, some boards, and a lot of unexpected company. How many waves can you last? (It’s locked at first. Part of the fun is finding the key.)
Co-op with friends
Host a game, share the four-letter code, and team up with up to three others in colourful aprons. Help each other up when things go wrong. Yell “Help!” with one key.
Holiday nights
Halloween, Thanksgiving, New Year’s Eve, Valentine’s Day, Easter and Christmas each get their own spooky, silly shift, with costumes that come with powers and catches.
Mini-games and modes
Hide-and-seek, speed-cleaning races, defending the store, cart racing, mop tag, floor-is-lava, and a frantic stock rush. All of them solo or with friends.
Build your own store
Finish a week and a store builder opens. Design your own, test it, play it in every mode, and share it with the world.
Badges and looks
Earn badges for the brave and the ridiculous, and unlock aprons, name tags, mops and tunes to show them off.
Leaderboards
Pick a nickname (not your real name, please) and see how your week stacks up against everyone else’s.
Handy tips
- Sneaking is quieter. Walking is faster. Both are sometimes the right answer.
- Hiding spots are your friends. So is the PA system, if you’re feeling cheeky.
- The map (M) shows where the work is. Check it before you start wandering.
- Wear headphones. The store has a soundtrack, and it knows when you’re in trouble.
- Not sure what to do next? Check the clipboard. The manager is always watching, and always has something for you.
